Our Story

Emily's Version:

One late, late July night, my work friend and I were leaving a local establishment. While walking to our car, this random guy started trying to talk to us, little did I know this random guy was the man of my dreams.

For personal reasons, I didn't want to give out my number to a random guy in a parking lot, but after talking and flirting for quite some time, my work friend gave him my number and he agreed to go with me to pick out new glasses the next day. But, Daniel couldn't wait until the next day to call and called that night. We talked for hours and found out that we had quite a lot in common.

The next day, we met at the mall and he helped me pick out some new glasses and then a very nervous Daniel asked if I wanted to walk around for a bit. I figured that now was as good a time as any to get him used to me and my shopping habits. He did a pretty good job and didn't complain one bit (I wish that was still the case). At the end of the date, he had to leave to go meet up with some friends. We hugged and then parted ways. I turned back to look and so did he. To make it less awkward I made a joke, but at that point, I knew he was hooked.

Later that next week, we had been talking and hanging out a lot. One evening, after Daniel "fixed" my washing machine (the washing machine still leaked until almost a year later), he asked me to go to his sister's baby shower with him. I was a little freaked out, I barely knew this guy who all of a sudden wanted me to meet his whole family...plus, I really wasn't a relationship person, but I liked him, so I decided to suck it up and go...and the rest is history.

Daniel's Version:

One night I meet up with some friends for a buddy's birthday party. As I was leaving, I said hello to a beautiful girl on the way out. After talking in the parking lot, I asked for Emily's number but she was playing coy. So, her friend gave me Emily's number to "cut to the chase." Since then, we have talked every day, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

While I was applying to medical school, I realized that if I got in I may have to move away, and I couldn't bare to be away from Emily even if we were talking every day on the phone. I knew we hadn't been dating very long, but I also knew that she was the right girl for me. I decided to see how she would react to the idea of marriage by giving her a ring that looked like an engagement ring as a joke for Valentine's Day 2007. It freaked her out, but I could tell she appreciated the thought. How you might ask? She hated the way the ring looked, but she wore it all the time.

This time around, I decided it would be better if she designed the ring. Afterall, how could she say no to the proposal after designing the ring? I can't wait for the next step in our lives together, and I look foward to having Schmoo as my beautiful wife.
